That's my world - Tuesday

It's fascinating to see pictures from around the world so why don't you click on the logo?

When I was child I can remember the various tradesmen coming down our road selling their wares - fish monger, vegetable cart, rag and bone man, the milkman and when we lived in Northern Ireland the coal man -nowadays this is a rare sight. But I was over the moon yesterday when this delightful gentleman came a calling down our road and Nigel was his 1st customer when he took his lawnmower out to have the blades sharpened..

Not only was his wagon a pure colourful delight but so was he - a real gem of an Eastender with a wonderful cockney accent.

How lovely, Judith! Yes, it's a great shame there are not more people like the milkman, the veg man etc these days - I think we're not even supposed to say milkman, we should say 'milkperson' to be pc! We used to have a 'proper' little grocers here, Mr Ross, but sadly he's gone, as the supermarket chains have taken over...
What a lovely thing to happen along your road yesterday! Have a great day x

Oh goodness! Immediately made me think of Oliver Twist and that wonderful song called "Who will buy!" Absolutely delightful!

Lol, that's almost like here in West Africa, except for the different background!

What a great picture Judith! I remember the days of the coal man, ice man, vertable man, and milk man too. When I was a little girl they usually came down my grandmother's street on wagons pulled by horses. Your pictures brought back a lot of memories for me. Thank you.

What a fun sight. I have always wish for people to do things like that. It is so much trouble to load up everything and take it someplace to get it fixed, serviced, whatever.

Wow, those pictures reminded me when I was little about a man who would come around the neighborhood and sharpen knives. He did not have a wagon, but he was the nicest man. I remember he use to give me a red piece of candy every time he came by our house. What an awesome memory you reminded me of. AMEN!

oh what a lovely thing to happen! I've great memories of the "bread man" going to granny's (with an iced diamond for me!) and the fish man, the rag and bone man and the lemondade man!

It's making a comeback too... organic boxes these days!
