That's my world - Tuesday

One of many aspects I love about London is the interesting skyline - the old and new buildings mingling side by side. This photograph gives you an example..

At the front is The Tower of London a building 900 years old and in the back ground is a building, situated in the main financial district of the city of London, know as The Gherkin formerly the Swiss Re Building and probably about 10-12 years old - but, to me, neither structures look out of place but complement each other.

True. Your thoughts make me think of my grandmother's house. New and old stood side by side and it made sense because it was hers. Same goes here. Great shot. Thanks for the fun.

I've visited the Tower. I loved London because of its history.

It is an interesting mix! In SA we do not have such old buildings our history being so much younger. I remember when Stacey visited Turkey, it was one of the things that made a huge impression on her (it was her first visit to Europe)- the age old buildings!
Lovely post again Judith!

I agree that old and new can complement each other. I like it when there is planning for new, but the old isn't destroyed.

What a wonder juxtaposition! I heard about the Gerkin for the first time last week - it's neat to see a photo of it that you've taken.

I totally agree, when I lived there I always thought the old and new blended well in this area.
