Pink Saturday

I only wish you could scratch the screen and smell this beautiful Hyacinth which I received from one of my ladies at Christ Church for Christmas. The flower stems are so heavy that they are bending over and I shall have to secure them today so that they do not snap. My husband has a cold and cannot smell much at the moment; however, on entering the kitchen yesterday he remarked on the perfume of the flower.

When I received the three bulbs in the pot I didn't know what colour the flower would be but how kind of Barbara to think of Pink Saturday!!! :)

Those hyacinths are beautiful. I can smell them in my imagination. This is the time of year for that.

Hi Judith,
I love hyacinths, they are my most favourite of flowers, especially at this time of year when the garden's a bit....dormant. Lovely!
Judith, how do I get the little award thingy-bobby you kindly nominated me for? What do I have to do to get it on my blog? (I am terribly thick at computers!)
I will now go and see what your munchkin has been up to! Ours are all in bed, well one is out - up to no good, no doubt! As long as no little furry animals are brought in, I will be happy!

Don't they smell heavenly!! I love to watch bulbs emerge ...something magical about that.

Just a bit of information...you can take dowel rods or any other types of stick ...stick it beside the bulb & tie the bloom in a couple of spots to it with a piece of twisty tie (like from a bread sack) or a piece of chenille pipe cleaner works great. If you do not stake it...it becomes too heavy & will crease the stem which will not allow the water to absorb. The bloom will then start to rot at the crease.
This will help your bloom to last longer.

Thought this might be helpful!
ENJOY!!

Hi Judith
Don't you just love the smell of hyacinths? I do! So you have pink glasses too. When it was time for me to get new glasses I decided to go for something fun since I habe to wear them all the time! I like them because people notice the glasses instead of the wrinkles!
Hugs, Rhondi
